During a Divorce or Parental Rights & Responsibility case, the Court will determine which parent will pay the children’s health care expenses, childcare expenses, and medical care expenses. The Court can also indicate how certain expenses will be divided between the parents if the expense is not covered by medical insurance or otherwise. The Court may also indicate how certain expenses for the children’s extracurricular activities will be shared by the parties.
Typically, the Court will not order a parent to pay for college expenses. This is when the expertise of a Family Law Trial Lawyer will be helpful. If the parties can come to an agreement, a Family Law Trial Lawyer can draft a Settlement Agreement. A Settlement Agreement provides the parties with the maximum amount of flexibility, as the parties can contract for any provision that fits their family and the best interests of their children. For example, it may be wise to contract for one or both parties to put funds into a 529 Account to use for the children’s future college expenses, or for one or both parties to contribute a certain amount or percentage toward future college expenses.
I received a copy of my son's appeal prepared by Carl E. Woock. I cannot tell you how relieved I am to read this appeal.…
Has a ton of experience. Knows the court and the other attorney which should be helpful.
